The Stewardship Giving Circle brings together people who want to make a deeper contribution to climate action through collective giving.

Members pool their donations, learn alongside other climate donors and help direct funding towards Australia's most effective climate organisations and campaigns.

Designed for people contributing approximately $5,000–$10,000+ each year, the SGC combines expert due diligence, community, learning and collective grantmaking.

How it works

  1. Join the Circle: Members make an annual contribution and become part of a community of climate donors.

  2. Explore opportunities: Groundswell identifies high-impact organisations and campaigns through our grantmaking process, advisor network and due diligence.

  3. Learn together: Members receive briefings, insights and opportunities to connect with climate leaders and fellow donors.

  4. Decide collectively: Members help shape funding decisions and vote on where grants are distributed.

  5. See the impact: Throughout the year, members receive updates on the work they've helped make possible.

Key dates

August
A longlist of potential grant partners is developed through Groundswell's due diligence process.

September
A member shortlisting committee reviews opportunities and develops a final shortlist.

15 October
Members gather to hear from shortlisted organisations, discuss opportunities and vote collectively on funding.

November
Grants are distributed to selected organisations.

2027
Members receive updates and impact reporting on the work they've helped fund.

 

What we fund

The Stewardship Giving Circle supports organisations working to create the conditions for rapid, equitable and durable climate progress.

This may include:

  • Building public support for a fast and fair clean energy transition

  • Holding fossil fuel companies and decision-makers accountable

  • Strengthening climate narratives, media and public engagement

  • Supporting First Nations leadership and climate justice initiatives

Funding priorities may evolve each year in response to emerging opportunities and challenges.
