Australian Associated Press (AAP) is Australia’s independent national newswire. It produces factual reporting that is distributed to hundreds of media outlets around the country, including many regional and rural publications.
This Groundswell grant supported Australian Associated Press to continue its dedicated Climate Desk, providing factual, independent climate reporting to more than 400 newsrooms across Australia and the Pacific. The funding helped sustain a specialist Climate Correspondent producing regular coverage of climate impacts, energy and the transition, while expanding reporting beyond the usual political cycle. The work also strengthened AAP’s ability to counter misinformation, scrutinise climate and energy policy, elevate expert and community voices, and ensure regional and Pacific audiences have access to reliable climate journalism.
