Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is a national environmental organisation focused on protecting Australia’s oceans and marine life. It works on issues including offshore oil and gas, marine protected areas, threatened species, sustainable fisheries and ocean pollution.
This Groundswell grant supported the Australian Marine Conservation Society to build a larger public campaign against new offshore oil and gas acreage releases. The funding helped strengthen communications, coordination and advocacy across the environment movement, with a particular focus on proposals in south-east Australia. The work aimed to build public and political pressure against opening new areas to fossil fuel development and protect marine environments from further offshore oil and gas expansion.
