Groundswell Grants
2024
$
10000

This Groundswell grant supported the Australian Youth Climate Coalition to grow the leadership and organising power of young people across Australia. The funding helped train emerging climate leaders, expand the People of Colour Climate Network, and mobilise young people in regions affected by fossil fuel development, including in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. It also supported youth engagement ahead of COP31 and helped more young people understand and participate in climate policy and public debate.

2023
$
40000

This Groundswell grant supported the Australian Youth Climate Coalition to train and mobilise young people to lead climate action across Australia. The funding helped deliver leadership training, grow youth-led local action groups and support campaigns opposing new gas development, including fracking in the Beetaloo Basin. The work strengthened young people’s organising skills, amplified frontline community campaigns and built political pressure for stronger climate action and an end to fossil fuel expansion.

2022
$
40000

This Groundswell grant supported the Australian Youth Climate Coalition to mobilise young people around climate action during the 2022 federal election. The funding helped AYCC engage and enrol young voters, train volunteers to have persuasive climate conversations, run a national Reverse Leaders Forum and distribute climate policy information in key electorates. The work helped bring young people’s concerns into the election debate and build an ongoing youth movement to keep pressure on the new government after polling day.

2026
$
10000

This Groundswell grant supported the Australian Youth Climate Coalition to continue building the next generation of climate leaders across Australia. The funding helped sustain AYCC’s youth training, schools programs and grassroots organising, giving young people the skills, confidence and networks to take meaningful action on climate change. By supporting one of Australia’s longest-running youth climate organisations, the grant helped keep young people’s voices strong in public debate and maintain an important pathway for future climate leaders.
