Groundswell Grants
2023
$
40000

This Groundswell grant supported Bushfire Survivors for Climate Action to strengthen the voice of people with lived experience of climate disasters in public and political debate. The funding helped sustain core staff, support bushfire survivors as spokespeople, engage directly with politicians and regulators, and build pressure for stronger climate and environment laws. The work also expanded media advocacy, explored strategic litigation and helped grow collaboration between communities already experiencing the impacts of climate change.

2021
$
40000

This Groundswell grant supported Bushfire Survivors for Climate Action to bring the lived experience of bushfire-affected communities into the 2022 federal election debate. The funding helped recruit and train local organisers and survivors across four fire-affected electorates, support direct engagement with candidates and MPs, and produce locally tailored campaign content. The work used personal stories to connect worsening bushfire risk with climate change and build support for a faster transition to renewable energy.

Wherever we are in this country, we are on Country.

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Traditional Custodians, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

We honour their enduring care for Country and the First Nations leadership our climate future depends on.
