As the peak environmental NGO for the Kimberley region in far north-west Australia, Environs Kimberley is dedicated to looking after the health of the land and waters of the region, through advocacy and on-ground cultural and natural resource management projects.
This Groundswell grant supported Environs Kimberley to protect the Kimberley from new gas development and build momentum for a permanent ban on fracking. The funding helped strengthen community organising, advocacy and public campaigning against proposals in the Canning and Browse basins, including Woodside’s plans near Scott Reef. The work brings together Traditional Owners, local communities and national partners to challenge new fossil fuel projects and build support for clean energy alternatives and long-term protection of the Kimberley’s lands and waters.

Your donation is pooled with others and directed to the people, organisations and communities helping drive climate progress across Australia.
Every gift is 100% tax-deductible. Monthly giving provides the steady support climate campaigns need to succeed, but every contribution counts.

Wherever we are in this country, we are on Country.
We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Traditional Custodians, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
We honour their enduring care for Country and the First Nations leadership our climate future depends on.
