This Groundswell grant supported FrontRunners to harness the influence of athletes and sporting organisations to build support for climate action. The funding helped mobilise athletes, strengthen player-led climate initiatives, develop campaigns to end fossil fuel sponsorship in sport and advise major sporting bodies on climate strategy. The work used sport’s cultural reach to bring climate messages to new audiences, while helping athletes and organisations turn concern about climate impacts into public advocacy and practical action.
