North Queensland Conservation Council (NQCC) is a grassroots environmental organisation working to protect nature and drive climate action across North Queensland. It brings local communities together through organising, campaigning and political advocacy, with a focus on protecting the region’s natural environment and ensuring community voices shape decisions about its future.
This Groundswell grant supported the North Queensland Conservation Council to strengthen grassroots climate organising in Townsville during a critical period in Queensland’s energy transition. The funding helped grow a broader and more diverse local movement, shift the public narrative around climate action and build community support for policies that benefit nature, communities and First Nations people. The work also helped prepare local advocates to engage effectively ahead of the 2024 local government elections.

Your donation is pooled with others and directed to the people, organisations and communities helping drive climate progress across Australia.
Every gift is 100% tax-deductible. Monthly giving provides the steady support climate campaigns need to succeed, but every contribution counts.

Wherever we are in this country, we are on Country.
We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Traditional Custodians, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
We honour their enduring care for Country and the First Nations leadership our climate future depends on.
