A youth-led movement founded in 2019 by 27 law students at the University of the South Pacific in Vanuatu. They successfully campaigned for a landmark July 2025 International Court of Justice advisory opinion confirming states have binding legal duties to prevent climate harm.
After helping secure a landmark World Court ruling on countries' legal obligations to address climate change, Pacific youth are working to turn that decision into action. This grant will support Pacific-led research and advocacy to hold governments accountable and push for stronger climate commitments at home and internationally.

What began with 27 Pacific law students in 2019 became one of the most significant victories in international climate law. In July 2025, they secured a historic ruling from the International Court of Justice affirming governments' legal responsibilities to act on climate change. Now comes the enormous task of turning that victory into action. Our funding will support the research, advocacy and coalition-building needed to help Pacific nations hold major polluters accountable.
