Groundswell Grants
2025
$
100000

This Groundswell grant supported RE-Alliance to strengthen the voice and influence of rural and regional communities in Australia’s renewable energy transition. The funding helped grow networks of regional leaders and renewable energy farmers, provide practical support and peer learning, and create more opportunities for communities to engage directly with government, industry and the media. The work aimed to improve how renewable energy projects are developed, secure fairer local benefits, counter misinformation and ensure regional communities have a stronger say in the transition happening around them.

2024
$
100000

This Groundswell grant supported the Local Energy Hubs campaign to build support for a national network of independent energy information centres in regional Australia. Led by Community Power Agency, RE-Alliance and Yes2Renewables, the campaign used community events, media stories and direct engagement with government to show how local hubs could help people understand renewable energy projects and navigate the transition. The funding supported advocacy, community outreach and campaign resources aimed at securing federal backing for 50 Local Energy Hubs across the country.
