Groundswell Grants
2025
$
50000

This Groundswell grant supported Seed to grow the power of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people leading climate action across Australia. The funding helped train and connect young First Nations organisers, support campaigns to stop fracking and protect Country from fossil fuel development, and bring frontline voices into national and international climate discussions. It also backed young people to step into leadership and helped communities build First Nations-led solutions to climate change grounded in culture, Country and self-determination.

2023
$
80000

This grant supported Seed to grow the capacity of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to lead climate justice campaigns in their communities. The funding helped deliver regional training camps, strengthen campaigns opposing fracking in the Northern Territory and support the launch of new work in Western Australia. It also backed Seed’s communications and organisational growth, including a new website, public education work and investment in the team needed to sustain First Nations youth leadership over the long term.

2021
$
40000

This grant supported Seed to strengthen First Nations youth leadership, grow its grassroots movement and continue campaigning against fracking in the Northern Territory. The funding helped build Seed’s organisational foundations, deliver leadership and climate justice training, and support Traditional Owners to engage in the Federal Senate Inquiry into public funding for Beetaloo Basin gas. It also backed major public actions targeting Origin Energy and a series of ‘Heal Country’ webinars that elevated First Nations voices, stories and leadership in the national climate conversation.

2020
$
40000

This grant supported Seed to build the political power of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Northern Territory and strengthen the campaign against fracking. The funding helped Seed enrol people to vote, hold conversations in remote communities, run public education and rapid-response campaigning, and amplify Traditional Owner voices calling for a clean energy future. The work reached large national audiences, supported community-led opposition to fracking and grew a network of people taking action against gas expansion.
