The project combines cultural renewal with environmental restoration, creating healthier riparian zones and accessible sources of native weaving materials.

$
15000

This grant supported monthly Weaving Waterways gatherings for Bundjalung women, as well as an end-of-year camp for 20–25 core cultural leaders. The program creates space for Elders, Knowledge Holders and younger women to share weaving, fibre and plant knowledge, strengthen connection to waterways and Country, and pass cultural practices on across generations. In doing so, it supports cultural continuity, community wellbeing and the ongoing care of Jogun Country.

This grant supported Weaving Waterways to restore local waterways as places of both cultural practice and ecological care. Working with First Nations community members, the project identified priority waterways, began replanting native weaving species and protecting riparian areas, helping improve biodiversity while rebuilding access to culturally important materials.
